Learn the navigation, settings, and basics of SoftLedger for your first few visits.

After you have completed your user login information, you will be directed to land on the Trial Balance screen under Reports:

To access different parts of SoftLedger, you can select a module to access from the primary menu:

And then navigate further within each module from the secondary menu:

In the top ribbon, you can also change the data represented by choosing the Location (SoftLedger's term for entity) in the Location Picker, which defaults to the "Global" location upon login:

Similarly, the System Date Picker also controls the data that is represented in the tables throughout the platform. For instance, changing the date on the Trial Balance will control which Months/Years are displayed:

Lastly, there is a menu accessible from the dropdown arrow next to your profile name in the top right corner of your screen. Access this menu for your Profile, Users, Report Editor, Audit Logs, Settings, Accounting Periods, and Templates:


Most modules within SoftLedger represent data in tables as a form of a dynamic report (e.g. Invoices under AR shows list of Invoices with statuses, amounts due, etc.). Most tables/reports will have overall filter options at the top of the table to determine what data is populated in the table. Within these tables, there are ways to manipulate the data:

Each column has a filter such as Type to Filter, multi-selection, or date ranges to help refine the data you are viewing within the table. You can use multiple filters between different columns at the same time (e..g Customer Name and Status: Created).

Tables also can be adjusted to show certain columns by the Column Selector:

You can add or subtract columns, as well as Save Table Settings so that tables appear as you had selected when you navigate away and return (this is a per user setting).

Lastly, you can export most tables with the Visible Columns (columns in view):

Or export with all possible columns in view:

Within tables, the blue highlight text indicates that you can drill into that detail (e.g. a Customer Name or a calculated figure), and the popout icon will open in a new tab:


There are various icons across all modules within SoftLedger. If you hover over an icon, text will appear explaining what the icon does.

  • Void:
  • Create template entry (will populate a document from an existing document):


You can use the Tab and Enter keys to jump from one field to the next when inputting information with the SoftLedger user interface. For example, if you are creating an Invoice through the Add Invoice modal, you can click tab to go to the next right most field to be able to move through data entry more quickly:

You can also click the arrow next to Submit to Submit and New when creating multiple entries at a time.
