Description

SoftLedger allows you to create and manage custom fields specifically for items within warehouses. This feature enables users to track additional data points for individual items based on the warehouse they are stored in, offering greater flexibility and control over warehouse management.

Creating and Managing Custom Fields for Items

To create custom fields for items within your warehouses:

  1. Accessing Custom Fields: Navigate to the Settings section of your SoftLedger Admin module. Under this section, you'll find the Custom Fields area.

  2. Adding Custom Fields for Items per Warehouse: Click on "Add Custom Field." You can create up to three custom fields that can be applied to items within a warehouse. Common examples of these fields include "Bin" or "Shelf," which help you more precisely locate stock within a warehouse.

  3. Defining Fields: Enter a label and description for each custom field. These will help clarify the purpose of each field. Custom fields can hold unique values for items in different warehouses, but you can reuse values across multiple warehouses (e.g., "Shelf" can be applied to items in various warehouses).

  4. Managing Fields: You can edit or delete custom fields from the Custom Fields section. Changes made here will be reflected across all relevant items within the warehouses.

Warehouse-Specific Custom Fields for Items
Each custom field is associated with specific items in a warehouse, allowing you to assign different values to the same item across various warehouses. For example, if you store the same part in multiple warehouses, the custom field values can differ depending on the warehouse in which the item is located.

Displaying and Filtering Custom Fields for Items
Once custom fields are added:

  1. Warehouse Details Screen: Custom fields will appear in a designated section on the Warehouse Details screen, specifically for stock of items.

  2. Search and Filtering: Users can search and filter items within a warehouse based on the custom field values.

  3. Exporting Data: Custom field values for items are also included as columns in warehouse inventory exports, providing a comprehensive view of your data.

  4. Access: Users with the "Update:Warehouse" permission will be able to update custom fields per warehouse.
